Daily Care

In and Out Time

Our kennel is both heated and air conditioned. It is also clean and dry. We pride ourselves in keeping it that way! Dogs are let out a minimum of four times per day into large, fenced-in areas. During that time, they can run, play, and go to the bathroom. We try hard to get the movers and groovers as much running time as possible! The couch potatoes will love our heated floors.

Food

We feed twice daily at Meadowland Kennel. We have found that dogs do best if they are able to eat their own food while at the kennel. We are required by state kennel regulations to keep all food in sealed containers. Please bring your dog's food in a sealed container with your dog's name and feeding instructions on it. Please notate if your dog has food allergies or medication requirements. You will be asked to fill out a short information card that is placed on your dog’s cage. This card has information that will be used daily. Verbal instructions may not be remembered during busy check-in and check-out times. If you do not bring your dog's own food, we will feed them Pro Plan Shredded Chicken dog food at no extra charge. We use stainless steel feed and water dishes. Please do not bring your own dishes.

Treats

We provide treats for your doggies throughout the day. You may certainly bring extra if you’d like, and we’ll be happy to spoil them! We prefer not to have rawhide bones unless your dog has them regularly at home. Once again, please let us know if your dog has food allergies.

Toys/Beds/Blankets/Leashes/Collars

Please bring your dog in on a leash. This ensures that an unpleasant interaction with another dog does not unexpectedly happen. Please make sure your dog’s collar is a quick-release collar. It is important that all dogs have collars with IDs on them. Do not bring choke collars or prong collars for wearing inside. You are welcome to bring a bark collar if you know your dog is on the more vocal side or has a difficult time controlling their bark while indoors. Please know, we will not use it if it is not necessary. All dogs are allowed to bark and play outside as long as they are not fighting through the fences.

You are welcome to bring chew toys, blankets, or a dog bed. We cannot be responsible for damage done to them while at the kennel. We highly discourage comforters or sleeping bags. Dogs love to unstuff them! These items should be marked with your dog's name.

Medications/Supplements

We are happy to administer medications your pet may need while they are with us. There will be medication cards that will need to be filled out at check-in. We cannot be held responsible for dogs who try to bite us or repeatedly spit out their meds. We are pretty adept at giving meds but every once in a while a dog will just not have it! We do not administer IV medications or perform bandage changes and wound care for a previous injury or surgery.

Socialization

Dogs are socialized only if both we and the owner feel that it is a good fit. Dogs from different families are not generally put out together. The dogs can see the other dogs and interact through the fence, and this is fun for them. However, if a dog shows serious fence aggression, we may ask you to bring along a bark or training collar for the safety of all. We always put safety first.
